Child Intervention Services

Cognitive and learning INTERVENTIONs

Dr. Carbone works with children and adolescents using evidence-based treatments. Intervention services are provided in both individual and group formats.  Intervention is designed to help clients to develop the necessary academic, cognitive, and emotional skill sets to address attention, learning, and other developmental challenges.

INDIVIDUALIZED INTERVENTION

Individualized intervention sessions are customized to meet the unique needs of the client. Dr. Carbone integrates strategies from clinical and educational psychology, as well as neuropsychology to create solutions that will allow the client to confidently approach challenges. Mindfulness techniques and assistive technology tools are also utilized.  Intervention sessions are designed to address the following:

  • Attention retraining and restoration
  • Executive skills training
  • Self-regulation (including emotion regulation) related to academic and social functioning
  • Effective study and communication skills
  • Assistive technology strategy development

Executive functioning and Learning groups

Dr. Carbone leads small group sessions to help children and pre-adolescents to improve in various cognitive and academic areas.   Participants engage in a small group setting (4-5 children). Skills addressed include:

  • Executive functioning skills  (i.e., planning, sequencing, problem-solving)
  • Self-regulation skills (i.e., self-awareness, self-monitoring)
  • Effective study habits
  • Social skills

Customized dyads and small group interventions can be arranged. Please speak with Dr. Carbone about your child's needs and whether such a group intervention can be customized.

school consultation and collaborative CARE

Dr. Carbone provides consultation services to schools, tutors, and other providers in order to explain neuropsychological evaluation results and to coordinate treatment planning.
